I am currently a fine art student part of a busy studio culture in the art school, I work well in a studio environment and the studio offers me to be part of an artistic community. I plan to continue to work in a studio environment after graduation. The programme would offer me the opportunity to continue building a routine in a studio environment, this would be beneficial to my practice as it would enable me to schedule the hours I would spend in the studio which would provide a flow to my practice. help me develop my business style, give me time to conceptualise what structure works best for me. I can use it as a framework for future, exhibitions, commission work, and other projects. The programme would offer me the chance to work along side other artists, get involved in group exhibitions as well as other opportunities. I want my practice to continue as an independent project but I also would like to get involved in group projects and have interactions with other artis...

“I find it wholesome to be alone the greater part of the time. To be in company, even with the best, is soon wearisome and dissipating. I love to be alone. I never found the companion that was so companionable as solitude.” “All men want, not something to do with, but something to do, or rather something to be.” “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.” “How many a man has dated a new era in his life from the reading of a book.” “The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.” “However mean your life is, meet and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not so bad as you are. It looks poorest when you are richest. The fault-finder will find faults even in paradise. Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a ...

Islington mill studio visit and tour. I went on the visit to Islington mill to have a look around the mill and get some information how they work. There were lots of communal areas within the mill which made the space feel social, I am looking for a studio space which could offer me the opportunity to work alongside and get to know other artists. The studios were a mix of private and open spaces, some were designed so the artists could work alone; some were shared and open plan in order to share printing facilities. This offers the balance of being able to work independently and still having the support and contact with surrounding artists. There were studios that extended on to the next door industrial site and there's talk of having funding to get the upper two derelict floors converted into more studios. We were shown round exhibition spaces which are up for hiring out and group resident shows. Notes from the talk: ...

I would like to have the chance to develop my artistic practice by having access to a studio space, I think that a studio space would be crucial in order to continue my practice. After I graduate I would like to continue to expand to the scale of my paintings, expanding the paintings for me involves installing backgrounds which would require wall space to be able to experiment and develop with this idea. In order for me to continue to develop my practice I would need to have a space which would allow me to increase the scale of my work. Having a studio would provide me with the time and space to strengthen my painting style and technique, It would give me the opportunity to commit extra time to work on my painting technique alone. Studio culture: Being a fine art student I am part of a busy studio culture in the art school, I work well in a studio environment and being part of a studio environment by the programme would offer me the benefit of building a routine in the studio,...
